Meaning in Motion for Volta Studio

2025

At the end of 2024 Volta studio were right in the middle of an exciting transition - moving from remote setups into a brand-new collaborative studio with some seriously ambitious projects on the go. We got involved to help elevate their brand presence and give them some new confidence to shout about what they're up to with a new brand strategy and full identity reboot.

Volta is a tight-knit creative studio specialising in live action video and animation production. Their work acts as a turning point, transforming complex information into compelling stories for people determined to have impact.

The italian word 'volta' translates to 'turn' and is used in poetry to describe a moment of shift or change. At the heart of the logotype, where the L and T meet, we created a visual representation of this core idea.

This little visual spark is a symbol of transformation, and became the brand’s mark and a design motif we could weave through the whole identity.

The studio is named for Lake Volta - a major source of power and energy in Ghana. As a nod to this connection, the brand mark becomes a pattern motif inspired by the repeating geometric forms of Ghanian Kente cloth.

“We wanted a shift in mindset, more cohesion, and a brand that better represented who we are now. Angel & Anchor made that happen. We're really happy with the new brand—it’s brought real transformation and a sense of cohesion that was missing before. Our team is proud of who we are and excited about where we’re going. We’re being noticed, and it’s energised us to create our best work.

Before working with A&A, we didn’t have the confidence to share anything about us, our work, or our vision. The rebrand, along with the defining sessions that came before it, helped us take everything that was just fragments in our minds and put it on paper. A&A helped us dig deep and bring out what was hidden. Now, we have a brand identity and language that truly reflect who we are, what we do, and our vision for the future.

At first, we were unsure about trusting someone else with our brand’s identity, especially coming from a creative background—it’s easy to get too close to it! But choosing A&A was easy because of their strong portfolio, and they didn’t disappoint. We’re so happy with the experience and the results.”
